This totally boils down to dollars and cents--they cost money so they are not performed unless medically necessary. There is no evidence that they can harm the baby.

I think it has to do with insurance. Although I have had 3 already and am 7 months. I had one at 20 weeks and he was measuring bigger than what my due date is so they had me get another one to see if he was still bigger because of my height. So I guess unless you have some sort of problem they won't do one until about 20 weeks. Good luck

The baby gets very distressed by ultrasound, it would be better in most cases if none were done.

It's not your location, it's your insurance that makes this determination. Call the insurance company if you feel you need another ultrasound. Sometimes they only approve them if you suspect trouble or have had a fall or other injury.

why should you worry if your child is healthy. ultrasound is not at all advisable unless it has to be carried out in some cases where the doctor is certain of the deformities. one should be absolutely normal and enjoy pregnancy, eating delicious nutritious food, keeping your mind always cheerful.

Ultrasounds are similar to x-rays and I think I heard once that to many can cause harm in some children, Perhaps that is why they only use them as neccessary.

Cheap insuarnce or on state subsidy. My lady had them regularly but then again I provide her with great insurance! Good healthcare cost good money and that's not an HMO. If you want one and your insurance won't cover it, offer to pay for it. They'll gladly provide it.
