Note to some answerers - the question is not necessarily asking are there Gay paedophiles, it is asking why people EQUATE being gay to being a paedophile.

They don't understand that being gay is a state of SEXUALITY, whilst pedophilia is a form of SEXUAL PATHOLOGY.

Because they want to use pedophilia as an argument on the behalf of a homophobe. Any person with at least half a brain or a robot with half a cpu would know that being a pedophiliac and being a homosexual are not the same thing.

Well, I'm neither of those, but I believe many people DO equate the two. I think they equate the two because there seem to be an awful lot of pedophiles, who are mostly men, who prey on young boys, who are also male. Thus the connection. And in my opinion, in general, stereotypes exist because most stereotypes have some TRUTH to them.

Because there's an awful lot of bigotry regarding gay people. I think that a lot of people who bring up the pedophilia thing know that it's not true. And that's evil.
I hope the people who tell those sorts of lies rot in Hell.
I don't really believe in Hell, but I sort of hope they go there anyway.

probably because of all the molestations that occur 1/3 are performed by gays. Taking into account that gays are only 1-3% of the population that may indicate that there are a susbtantial amount of gay child abusers out there.

a few years ago it meant guys praying on little girls...but in the past few years with what is going on in the Catholic church pedophilia is a gay thing. it's alright for the female teacher to have sex with her 13yo male student...she gets the lighter sentence than a male teacher and a female student.

Only very few accociate the two. There is nothing wrong with being gay, as long as you keep it to yourself...its not like anyone cares anyways. There is, most definately, something wrong with pedophelia, and smart people know the difference. So you really shouldnt be that offended...how does it hurt you. Its their ignorance, and has nothing to do with you or any other gay person.

IN MY OPINION, PAEDOPHILES ARE ATTRACTED TO CHILDREN BECAUSE IN THEIR MIND CHILDREN WON'T JUDGE, ARE IN MATURE, WANT TO BE LOVED, AND THEY THINK THEY ARE THE ONES TO LOVE THEM.
USUALLY THESE MEN CANNOT HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH ANY ADULT. THEY BECOME FRIENDLY WITH KIDS, AND THEN GAIN THEIR TRUST, AND ABUSE THEM, TELLING THEM IT IS OKAY BECAUSE IN THEIR HOUSE NO ONE LIKES THEM, AND TELL THEM TO KEEP IT A SECRET.
NOW THERE ARE ALSO VIOLENT MEN WHO FOR THE SAME REASON WANT AN SPECIFIC CHILD, AND SINCE THE CHILD DOES NOT RESPOND, ABDUCT THEM, ABUSE THEM, AND MOST LIKELY KILL THEM SO THEY CANNOT IDENTIFY THEM.
GAY MEN, ARE ATTRACTED TO OTHER MEN, NOT CHILDREN BUT MEN, WITH WHOM THEY CAN HAVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH.
