My adventure with lord of the rings started from reading the hobbit there and back again. It was just wonderful to read it. in many ways I still consider it better than the trilogy: it is so funny and so light to read. I just hope that if anybody eventually decides to make the film they will keep the mood of the book.
ps. and now the gossip- I heard that Jackson was in Poland to look for the forest in which he could perform the scene of Bilbo and the co cought by the spiders;)
our "puszcza Bialowieska" was already used in Narnia so who knows;)

There are lots of legal issues about the Hobbit, New Line owns the rights to the Hobbit, but MGM have the rights to distribute the film, once these two get it sorted it will be directed by Jackson. His new pet project is a remake of the Dambusters, the WWII raid on the German Dams. Can't wait to see his take on that...

A Hobbit film is in production but Peter Jackson denied that he has any involvement in it, he did before but now has pulled out. In my opinion, it will be the worst prequel top ever come out

On IMDb he is down as starting The Lovely Bones in 2007. He has always been interested in doing the Hobbit, last I heard there was some wranglings with Hollywood Big wigs regarding the rights. Because New Line (who did LOTR) want it but however owns it does not want them to have it.

Yes he is I'm going to be in it. I have this great nude scene where Dildo baggins goes down on me and all of the dwarves screw the elves and gollum is there too. Wait? No I think the movie I'm in is called The Humpit. Oh well same thing right?

There doesn't seem to be anything announced on the imdb website - Peter Jackson http://imdb.com/name/nm0001392/

or for Ian Mckellen - http://imdb.com/name/nm0005212/

Last I heard, they were still arguing over the legal side of things

:-(

It probably won't be out until 2009. It is running behind due to contract negotiations and copy right negotiations. It won't even start filming until next year.

I love the Tolkien books -- a mythology for English ethnicity.
