Yes, I have a cable modem, but I don't subscribe to the cable service I prefer Direct TV instead. I have to pay the cable company to use the cable modem, but I only pay them for the modem line.

Since I live in an apartment complex in an area with other apartment complexes it is hard to get cheap DSL, the cheapest form of broadband that I could find was through the cable company less than $50/month.
