It's you body preparing itself for childbirth. At this point your cervix could be slowly starting to soften up, thin out and get itself ready to dilate. You might even have some aches and pains in your lower back or a feeling like you're trying to get your period as well when your pelvis starts to shift and open in order to allow the baby to drop lower in the birth canal. So watch to see if you tummy drops lower...You'll know that when it happens because you should be able to breathe better. Some DEEP BREATHING when you get those pains should help you as well. If you can try to keep track of how often that happens and how long it lasts so you can tell your doctor at your check ups.
Many women go into labor a week or two before their estimated due date. If you see any brown or red spotting or if you start to leak or gush water from "down there", then you should let your doctors office know right away. Some women also have a burst of energy and start cleaning the house. Then you know it's time.(smile!)
Make sure that you keep your weekly doctors appointments and be careful not to travel out of town anymore as you could go into active labor anytime now. And if you haven't done it already, make sure your things are all packed and ready to go to hospital because it won't be too much longer now !
Best Wishes !!!

I had that pain too when I was pregnant. I think it's your cervix preparing to deliver the baby. The discharge is probably your mucus plug thinning. That means you could deliver soon, probably a couple of days or a week.
The leakage is probably from your bladder. There's a lot of pressure on it right now. Don't be concerned, all this is normal. Your fine. Your body is just preparing for your little miracle! Congrats and best of luck.

I had that same pain!!! I remember that so well. And my doctor told me that the pain was because the baby had dropped so far down. You will be having the baby soon I think. It was another two weeks I think before I had my baby when I noticed the pain. But I do really know what you are talking about because it scared me. I mean it hurt so bad at times that I wanted to fall to the floor and cry.

It is called Round Ligament pain. I had this when I was pregnant and it is a sharp stabbing-like pain in the vagina. It is normal, and nothing to worry about. The ligaments are getting stretched out, and that is what causes the pain. Google round ligament pain, and see if you think thats what it is. It can be extremely painful.

Hunny, I am pretty sure your water broke, it does not need to gush like in the movies & the sharp pain is your baby moving down into position to deliver (not all women experiance I sure did). Go ahead & grap your bags & head up to Labor & Delivery floor at the hosp. Water "leaks" really bag broken for too long can cause infection to you & baby. Happy Baby Day!

I'm a guy, and personally, I don't like long nails. I actually know a lot of like lengthy, painted nails cause they're "so pretty", but I don't like them.

A little bit of nail is fine... but I agree with you. Long nails are kinda major.

Ive been getting the same pains down there and i asked my midwife what it could be and she told me that its probably the babys head pushing on your cervix. I know what u mean, its very painful at times. Im just guessing that your baby is getting itself ready to be born. Good luck :)

Call your doctor...leakage, sharp short pains.....Call your doctor....doesn't hurt to ask....and better to be safe!
These would have been considered contractions with my second child.
Call your doctor or go to the hospital......leakage...water could have broke....what color is it?
