Well, it's never good to generalize about anything, ... there are good and bad cops just like good and bad in every profession. But it sure seems the vast majority of police are overly oppressive.

Becoming? A hundred years ago it was worse. Lots of Police Depts. were just the Mayor's private thug force. There was no path to protest unfair treatment. Even now it not's great but at least something is there. An ex-girlfriend's best friend's husband was a cop and we all partied together alot. It's a tough job. My temper with certain things (like being spit on)...well let's just say I'd make a lousy cop.

Yes, police officers, as well as soldiers are often trained to be mindless thugs at the beck and call of whoever commands them. Instead they should be taught to use their brains and to stand up for what's right, not the use of force, and not use their power as an opportunity for themselves to take advantage of others. People like Serpico should be the rule, not the exception, and if someone wants to be a cop, they should represent a higher standard than the criminals they pursue.

i'm not quite too particular they dont seem to do too a lot, there's no one which controls the police (a minimum of in my section) They speed run lights (for no reason) and park in no-parking zones. particularly typically even as they see somthing incorrect they in basic terms pressure away. except the S.W.A.T. crew receives referred to as in not something takes position.
