I think how to demonstrate atmospheric pressure should have a good impact on children.

Take an empty 1 gallon oil tin with screw lid and fill approx. quarter full with boiling water. Screw on cap tight and watch the tin collapse inwards. They should remember this experiment for a long time.

Take two forks.. Lock the two forks together between the prongs.. Slip a toothpick in the middle of the two forks prongs.. Balance the toothpick on a glass till it blances itself in the glass.. Take a match and burn the end of the toothpick on the inside of the glass.. And when the toothpick stops burning.. The forks seem to balance without falling down.. It's old.. But it works...

One other one.. Baking soda and vinager.. Mix it together and see what goes on.. Have fun..
