This is a very thought provoking question. It has a lot of significance to me, as I am currently living in my least favorite place. I'm a Soldier in Iraq and have been here for a little over ten months. From my perspective, anyplace outside of Iraq and this war-zone is my favorite place, anywhere that people aren't constantly killing one another and trying to kill me.
Specifically speaking however, I think my favorite place is somewhere that I can relax completely and find company with my friends and family. Christmas day at my parents home in Washington State in particuliar comes to mind. A light layer of snow on the ground outside, the sounds of crunching snow under one's feet when one walks. In the early morning, surrounded by smells of cinammon candles, sitting with my parents in my pajamas, drinking a nice hot cup of Mocha-Java while watching my nephews (ages 5,6,9) open their presents. Being in the company of my brother and sister and remembering what it was like when we were their ages enjoying our Christmas mornings.
That is my favorite place and time. Thanks for the memory inspiring question.

at the beach, esp. during moonlight when I'm sitting under a coconut tree; hearing the murmurs of the incoming/outgoing waves, seeing the countless stars flickering above the horizon
