well, in my own explanation, i guess a corn plant outside has more chloroplast than a houseplant bcoz corn plants collect more solar energy than a houseplant.. i think there's a possibility that the corn plants have been improving their chloroplasts due to the amount of solar enrgy they've been collecting..

I'm a houseplant person. (400 African violets plus others). I would say a corn plant outside growing in a field would have more chloroplast than a houseplant because it receives direct sun for many hours a day.

i dont think the number of chloroplasts is environmentally dependent. corn itself might have more than a common houseplant. but corn growing inside a house should have the same number of chloroplasts as corn growing outside.
