I have a phobia of sport balls? It keeps me from doing better in alot of sports I'm 14 and every since I was really young I always have a HUGE fear of balls. Like alot of times I just dodge the ball instead of getting it, we are playing volleyball and the ball comes I sometimes try to get it but most of the time I end up farther from the ball then I'm supposed(I know that I'm supposed to be closer but I'm scared of the ball and i dont do it) to be and try to hit it wrong and it never goes over.We have a small gym and we have 80 kids.(its 2 classes combined with 40 in each class)So all the gym is filled and people have to ball behind you our courts are akk back to back.So you could get hit by the ball any time. Even in tennis I'm afraid to go in the front when we play doubles, but I'm more like a front person because I can control the ball very well. And alot of times I dodge the ball then I get yelled at by the coach.
I know the pain is going to just be 1 minute tops but I'm still really

but im still really scared of the ball. Does anyone have any tips to try to conquer my fear?
I dont remember a incident where I have been hit by the ball really hard and knocked out. But yes I am built small.I've always been on the short side of my classes, every since kindergarten i have always been short.
But i know when i was younger I had witness someone that got bit by a dog. so that explains why im still scared of dogs. but i love animals!so cute!

I know how you feel, I hated gym class growing up because I would constantly get hit by sports balls. Golf balls, basketballs, birdies, volleyballs, hockey pucks, EVERYTHING. I even wrote a speech about it. Just take the plunge and face your fear straight on, and if you get hit, it happens, laugh about it, move on. You'll be okay i promise!!Ask your gym teacher about it, Im sure he/she will understand and could help you with it as well.

You need to jump into the fray! Your fear is NOT an irrational one, but whatever you fear is eminently greater than what will happen. So you get hit by a ball - big deal. Once you get popped a couple of times you'll see that and the fear will melt away. Isn't that better than going through what you do now - every day, over and over? Remember "a coward dies a thousand deaths..." Go get 'em!!!

You know I vowed after watching a girls soccer game that if I ever coached a team the first practice would involve a Juggs machine firing balls at the girls at 50mph, that way during a game you've already seen the worst. Get some friends to just pelt you relentlessly with them. IT will hurt, you will be sore, but your fear will diminish.
