No. Their is no friendship when one person is still in love. It just keeps the lovee from moving on. No one likes to be the bad guy sometimes you gotta just end things cold. If you let the person who loves you still hang around, then its giving them hope. Hope that your next relationship wont work out,that you'll realise how good they are for you. Hell you might have a weak moment, sleep with them and really mess things up. Just end it before it gets to that.

Yes, you can remain friends as long as both parties know how the other feels. You are cheating yourself if you are with someone that doesn't love you like you want to be loved. It would be best to break away from the friend to explore the possibilities of a new relationship with someone worthy of your love. Also, you won't be able to "blame" the friend for holding you back.

That's tough, but yes, I think you can. As long as you don't lead that person on, there can be a friendship. Just don't flirt with them and keep things strictly platonic. Think about it like this...if you take yourself away, you are essentially punishing them for loving you~
