I'm in my 20s, I got spanked bare butt growing up and I turned out just fine. It was never embarassing or anything, they usually only saw my butt anyway. I was not abused, I don't care about opinions. Who else got spanked that way? Do you think kids today would be better if that kind of punishment was common now (forgetting opinions and all that)

It IS abuse, especially if items other than a hand is used.
Physical pain is used as a deterrent because it scare people into behaving. I DO believe in teaching children to behave, and insisting on appropriate behaved children.
I raised four children, and all were/are well-behaved, and respectful, law abiding members of society now.
I do believe that today children don't receive the parental attention, time and discipline (discipline means teaching, it does not mean punishment, and there are ways of punishment other than physical violence). that they need to become respectful and caring. But violence is not the answer, there is too much fear in this world already!!

I was a very rebellious/belligerent child. Everyone spanked me (both bare butt and clothed)... my grandfather said that he spanked me more than all his children and grandchildren put together. I believe if they had not spanked me, I would have ended up in prison or worse. As it is, I have had zero infractions of the law in my life (not even a speeding ticket). But, they also gave me lots and lots of positive reinforcement (that is just as important). I love them with all my heart and I'm so glad they wailed on my bottom... I really needed it.
Those people who give those rubbishy arguments against spanking don't have a clue. I have a super high self-esteem and spanking didn't teach me to hit... I got spanked for hitting people. Look at how the children are ending up these days. Just how many school shootings, violence, rebellion, etc. have we had from children who were not spanked? As people quit spanking more and more, these things will continually go up more and more. Just look at the statistics from back in the days when people spanked. Spare the rod...

I am a 16 year old male who still gets a bare bottom spanking from my mom when I do something wrong. She normally uses a wooden bath brush on my bare backside while I am over her knee with my pants and underpants pulled down. The bath brush hurts like hell and I cry and kick my feet in the air like a 6 year old. My bum is completely red and stings and burns really bad. All you do is learn to accept the punishment and be a better person afterwards even though it is incredibly humiliating and painful. My advice is to take your licking with the belt. As tough as it is, you will learn a lot and improve your behavior. Good luck.

I was never spanked "bare" butted...but my mother had a paddle made that had a poem on it about being a "nice little girl" and she made us read it to her before she spanked us with it. When my daughter was little...I had her "decorate" a wooden spoon..broke her heart when I spanked her with her "pretty spoon".
I agree whole heartily that NOT spanking kids is the problem with kids these days. They know that they can report their parents if they spank them. There is a big difference between spanking your kids and beating them. I am still alive and probably a better person because my parents set limitations and there was punishment if we stepped outside the limits.

I was spanked bare butt and clothed, both, and I turned out fine. Corporal punishment can be very effective and not abusive if done correctly.
You know, if our justice system would allow public corporal punishment on some of our criminals, I think we would see some real results!

i got spanked bare butt 2 or 3 times and im fine, my older brother got spanked daily almost and the other day he thanked my mom and dad for spanking him, he said that they spanked sence into him.

actually getting spanked bare butt is good. it helps kids study better when they grow up. its some weird effect that lets them memorize better. kids should get more punishments
