Yes, of course that is a bad idea. We should already know this since most businesses also leave a paper trail along with their computer records. Anything can happen with computers, power surges can effect all votes for the day preceding the surge. The voting machines do not seem like a good idea at all other than to keep a record electronically ALONG WITH the paper trail. It would also benefit on the speed of the count.

I'm not that worried. The machines used in my area do generate hard copies which are then compared to the digital data. It's a new thing, I will tolerate a learning curve. I don't have a lot of faith in the overall voting process right now, so the idea that my vote may go from almost meaningless to completely meaningless isn't a big cause for concern.

In either 2000 or 2004, the owner of Diebold, the electronic voting machine company (he's in Ohio) told Bush that he'd do everything he could to make sure Bush carried Ohio.
That doesn't really say he would do something illegal, but it sure makes you think.

ELECTRONIC VOTING MACHINES HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR AT LEAST 25 YEARS IF NOT MORE.. A PAPER BALLOT IS MORE EASILY LOST IN MY OPINION THAN A VOTING MACHINE.. THE MACHINE ALSO HAVE BATTERY BACK UP IN CASE OF POWER FAILURE.. YES I THINK MY VOTE WILL COUNT. BUT I MY SELF AM NOT A FAN OF DIEBOLD..

I'm not worried. I'm convinced that the voting process has been irreparably corrupted by the criminal politicians. Anyone who thinks that their vote counts nowadays is naive. After the last election, I will never vote again. But the rest of you can go on pretending if it makes you feel better.

If your district contains a lot of people with color, I would worry. And it is as easy to "loose" an absentee ballot as it is to hack one.
We were Sheep when they stole the last one, we better be Wolves this time.
The stakes could not be higher.

yes it is very stupid, if you can go to the store and get a receipt for a transaction, you should defiantly be able to get one for your vote. They set this up so they can do whatever is in their favor during elections. This angers me to no end. You should try to get involved with an organization that wants to get rid of electronic voting machines in your area. You should watch this film.... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4312730277175242198
