If he is anything like me, a nice card with a thank you for all of his hard work would be more than enough to make his month.

Don't worry about spending your money on big gifts like coffee makers, a little recognition goes a long way.

A gift card is always a nice idea, and since you have such a crush on him you might want to ask the rest of the class/band to go in on it, too, so it doesn't seem inappropriate and he doesn't get in trouble.

A coffee machine seems like a bit much unless it's a group present, and even then, a gift card might be a better choice.

Just remember that before he accepts something he has to consider how other people, like the principal, other teachers, and parents, would view it, so be careful what you give him and how you give it. You don't want to get him in trouble.

Try to be original - teachers get heaps of chocolates etc.etc. But don't go overboard as it isn't appropriate for teachers to receive big gifts from students. I'd stick to Christmas and leave the birthday - or give the b'day gift from a group of you, rather than one individual. Maybe a CD or concert tickets or a really nice card that explains what makes him such a great teacher. Good luck.

You say it's his golden birthday and he's 29. I don't get it. (Was it a typo and you meant 59?)
Anyway, for Christmas you could get a specially nice tree decoration which he can keep and think of the giver every Christmas when he puts it on his tree ("That funny little kid with the glasses and buck teeth gave me that back in 2006") and stick to just a card for his birthday. You may have a crush on him, but he will not be feeling the same way about you.

A gift card to Starbucks is always welcome that way he can pick out what he likes. Or you could get him one of the many gift baskets that always pop up around christmastime, some always are coffee based.
