I just saw a mouse run across my kitchen floor and I know that if there is one there will be another.

So I would like to know based on your exerience, what is the best rat poison on the market.

I have one problem however we have a toy poodle and I wouldnt want her eating the posion ( but I am pretty sure I can figure out a way to prevent that).

I really dont care about the humane way fo doing this. I just want them dead as fast as possible.

TO KILL MICKEY

Any poison Will work. But if your worrying about spot the dog. One is you can take a jar with a lid and cut a hole in it , put the bait in it to keep spot out of it.The mouse will do the rest. BUT if spot finds the dead critter and eats it, rush spot to the VET. The other way is to use a Glue trap (you can get it at most stores IE. Lowes,Home depot,Ace Hardware Etc.) to get Mickey the mouse. Slide it in between lets say the counter an the Frig with a Dab of peanut butter in the middle of it then wait . Or use any number of traps. If Mickey croaks in a heater vent, after eating poison, plug your nose for Two weeks. D-Con has a trap that mimics a mouse hole that I have used that is 99% effective you don't even have to touch Mickey to take him out of it. On the farm here I have used havoc, D-con and all the others with all the ingredients in it that will kill it. If I had a critter in the house find a trap that you like ,save yourself the hassle of the stench and the vet bill ( I know from experience)

Is it a rat or a mouse? if its just a mouse get mice traps and put a small piece of cheese or a little peanut butter on it and push it back behind something like the refridgerater or in the cubboard under the sink something like that. Trust me they can get to anything. And by the next morning "Bingo" instant mouse in a trap. Just pick up the whole thing and throw it away! I have not yet have a mouse live more than 1 day in my house after I've seen it..Ha Ha sunnydays Oh ya if it's a Rat Get a BIG mouse trap (for real) they do make them. Just don't get yourself caught in it they'll brake what ever!

Any type of trap is fine.....peanut butter is the best bait. Do not use Decon or other poisons in your home.....instead of going out side to die, those little buggers will die behind the largest, heaviest piece of furniture you own and soon will smell to high heaven and you won't want anybody there until you've located the smell. After you have cleaned your home from top to bottom including every closet, cupboard and drawer, and it still smells, you'll get help to move the massive hutch and the stench will over power you. It takes a while to get that smell out of the carpet. Never again will you use poison in your home!

Havoc is sold at feed or garden stores. After using the little boxes of green pellets that just seem like vitamins to mice and/or rats, I found Havoc. For rats or roof rats, it comes in bars, large chunks or pieces about the size of a small rock. For mice, it comes in small pellets. Around this time of year, we always get mice and rats in our garage and house that come from a nearby field and restaurant. Started using Havoc last year and this stuff is the best I've ever used.

You can put it in the cabinets or behind the refrigerator and under the sink to keep it away from your little poodle.

I used DCon. It seems to work. Just keep away from the pooch and any kids. Also, they make plastic spring-loaded mouse traps. (Not sure of the brand name, but I think they say "World's Best Mouse Trap" or "We Build A Better Trap" or something like that on either the package or the actual trap). The ones we have are gray in color. You just squeeze them open at the end, place a little peanut butter in the center spot, and place it whereever you have seen the mouse (out of the way). Then, when you catch one, and you will, you just slide the trap up, pick it up by the end, take it outside, and squeeze it open and the mouse falls out, and you never have to touch the mouse. We live out in the country, in front of some woods, so we're always getting field mice in the house. I've found this kind works even better than the old standard metal and wood mouse traps, and they are a breeze to set and release compared to them. We don't like to use the poisions due to having little kids at home. One winter we had a whole family of mice move in...ack! We got them one by one, except for this one brave one that would just run right across the LR floor when we were right there watching TV! We eventually trapped him when we saw him go in a closet and we stuffed stuff under the door after we put one of the spring-loaded traps in there, and we did catch him, but then when I took him outside, I accidentally opened the trap (he was only caught by his tail), and he ended up getting away. (That's the only disadvantage of these spring-loaded squeeze kind, they are as easy to open as they are to set, and if you have one caught by a leg or tail that is live, you have to be careful when you're taking it outside (either to kill it or let it go), not to let the trap open before you get out. :o) Otherwise, I'd highly recommend them. I got them at my local hardware store. Good luck!

if you know you can absolutely keep your poodle from eating or drinking anything then try this otherwise don't. Antifreeze is extremely poisonous and is sugary so it attracts all animals, one cup will kill a human and 1/4 cup for an average size dog so a poodle shouldn't even get a lick. but if their are mice they will definately be attracted to it and it will kill them very fast and effectively.

Go to a feed store and buy some bar bait for rats and mice. You will definitely need to keep your dog out of it, but it will get them fast.
