I don't think so. In fact, I was having trouble the other night finding the conflict of the story I was working on. A friend of mine and I were IMing back and forth, and I shared my story with her. She picked up on the conflict right away. It was there the whole time, I just couldn't see it. Sometimes talking things out will spark new ideas, or show you what is already there that you are overlooking.

Nah, actually, it's a common thing that writers use one of their friends's ideas. Or for example, Joseph And His Brothers by Thomas Mann was originally an idea of Goethe.
