The only side Michael J Fox is on is his own. Seems like he just wants us to ignore all moral consideration and find a cure for him at all cause. What's next after stem cell research, using live human beings for testing? Using the mentally challenged for research? Fox probably will support that too. I mean, where do you draw the line? The Republicans are at least taking the stand based on what their principles, be it right or wrong. Fox is just out there to save his own butt at all cost. Hardly the righteous person he makes himself to be.

I think you have missed the point. I think that the world should do everything in its power to try and find a cure for this devastating disease, as well as the cure for aids, cancer, muscular dystrophy, etc., and any other illnesses out there. What is wrong with Michael J. Fox supporting and participating in helping to promote the cause? There are more people out there than Michael J. Fox with this disease and I am sure they are happy that he is using his celebrity status to bring awareness to the disease just as any other celebrity supports the charity(s) of their choice. If I had it, I would be.

I believe you misunderstand. .... Michael J. Fox does have Parkinson's, but he became a spokesperson for the Parkinson's research because it hit when he was at the top of his game...well known, well liked, immensely popular.
Lending his face to the quest for research funds is akin to Christopher Reeve becoming a spokesperson for quadriplegics (he was afflicted when he was at the top of his game, too), or Muhammed Ali and his support of brain research.
It isn't that the world is supposed to do everything in its power to find a cure just because Michael has it .. he has simply lent his 'star power' to help raise awareness.
Think of it this way ... most stars are paid to put their face to an advertisement .. they never actually use the product, and it serves no humanitarian purpose ... but because they are associated with it, folks buy it. How often do you buy clothing, fragrance or other items simply because a star promotes or wears them?
Many people DO just that .. and it is that mindset that helps stars raise money for special causes, whether it is Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, AIDS, breast cancer, muscular dystrophy, or even animal protection.
Hope this helps clear up any misunderstanding.

I am sure if everyone else that has it didn't have it they wouldn't give a rats *** either. Michael J Fox has donated lots of his time and money for Parkinsons research. He is a good man. He is trying to not only help himself but help others with this disease

Well, he does have Parkinson's and he uses his fame to try and raise the profile of the disease in the hope of finding a cure eventually, even though it will probably be too late for himself. It doesn't sound as though YOU give a rat's about Parkinson's!

Perhaps he wouldn't. But thank got he is drawing attention to it.
While I set in my office right now my 52 year old co worker is having tremors . She shuffles when she walks will soon be unable to work and will have to go on disability. Something Limbaugh and other "compassionate" conservatives would hate. Also right now, my father is home with tremors. I pray we can keep him out of a nursing home. I drive him everywhere he needs to go and work on his house for him and do his shopping.
No he might not even think about but he acknowledges that having it has enabled him to make a difference. I think most people support causes that affects them personally, be it child abuse, drug abuse, cancer or Parksons. God bless Michael J Fox and anyone else who works for good in the world

It shouldn't be the case that more people pay attention to an illness because a famous person has it. But they DO have the power to bring more attention to it than the "average" person could. Christopher Reeve did the same thing when he became paralyzed....used his celebrity to ensure help for others less fortunate than he.

Because he got it off of Diet soda, which is now just being known as a main risk of Parkinsons. Sounds not logical that a simple soda that people drink could cause this, but it is true. Part of what you say I agree with. If he was healthy, I do believe he wouldn't pay too much attention to Parkinsons because he did not experience it first hand, but I am sure he would at least have sympathy for the people that had it.

He is famous and lots of people know who he is.He is helping to raise
awareness and to get people that have connections and wealth to get
involved.Just like Chris Reeves did.Obviously it takes connections and
wealth to stir up our government. Most of the time the little people don't
carry a loud enough voice.
