I have a 1st generation iPod that I bought in December 2001 and a 1st generation nano. The battery on the old pod finally got weak and I replaced it earlier this year. I wouldn't qualify that as a problem as all rechargeable batteries lose the ability to hold a charge over time and I think 41/2 years is pretty good for a battery. That's the only issue I've had with my pods. After replacing the battery it works like a champ. The only reason I have the nano is because I got it free when I bought my new Mac. I still use the old one as well as the nano.

With both a shuffle and a mini, I've had my player randomly stop playing some songs...sometimes the songs come back, but a lot of times, they don't unless I delete them and put them back on.
