I think the only time a morning after pill should be used is in case of rape..this pill is too easy for women who are careless,,if they dont want to get pregnant then they need to take precautions like using birthcontrol pills and condoms..

I am pro choice in regard to the day after pill, however I do think that it should be a prescription medication. The reason why is because when I have had to take it I have found the pharmacist to be really insensitive about the spiel they give you about whether or not you can take it and how to take it properly. It is really embarrassing to admit infront of a crowd of people that you had unprotected sex that morning.
I am quite comfortable with my choice, but feel it could be quite humiliating for a younger woman. It also worries me that very young girls could end up taking it without any counselling at all.

It should be an over the counter pill in my opinion because:
I missed my birth control appointment and had had sex. I wasnt going to risk any chances. so i had to go make an apt. it costed me 50$ to see the doctor, luckily because of my birthcontrol, in california, i got the pill for free. But it was a hassel. The pill is good, it is not an abortion, it does not kill anything.. If you are pregnant the pill has no effect at all. the pill basically just makes it harder for the egg to land.. if its already landed, it cant stop it.
although.
Ive always been one to think.. if you think your ready to have sex, your ready for the coinciqueces. Im on birth control, and i would accept the fact of getting pregnant, if im having sex. If people can be supplied with birth contorl, the pill shouldnt matter either. Its a womens choice. Its a simple factor of population control. It happens, we need it, and its a responsiblity of the women having sex.... if you dont think your ready to have a child, your not ready.

As much as I think any pill that helps keep the population down, I'm leaning towards it being via prescription simply because if it's over the counter it would be way too easy for people to abuse. I can imagine parents forcing their daughter to take it after the girl was out late with a boyfriend.

I think the day after pill is really important choice to have available when other forms of birth control have failed. Too many people assume that people use it as a primary means of birth control, which is ridiculous, since that would be extremely expensive. It's an important back up method in case of something like a condom breaking, and also important for preventing pregnancies from rape.

I think it OK but I really resent lawmakers pushing their view point on practicing Catholics who feel that all forms of contraception is immoral.
They have a right to their opinion and if some hospitals and drug stores don't wish to carry that particular drug than they have a right not to sell it.
Liberals don't understand free speech and freedom means that some people are going to do and say things they don't agree with.
Liberals can't handle a difference of opinion. They will always attempt to brainwash everybody.
Or resort to censorship which is why your question might be deleted.

medical implications (against OTC)
1. responsibility issue - encourages sex first, BC later?
2. no prescription = casual use
3. regret - possible damage, infertility? STDs/STIs
vs.
unplanned parenthood (for OTC)
1. circumstance - rape, one night stands
2. financial issues - cost of a child
3. childs quality of life - neglect, busy mom, etc.
in other words:
advocates will argue that DAP should be available OTC (no doctor necessary) - this is a more liberal stance, and effectively less pregnancies will occur. teen females will not fear the consequences from their parents b/c OTC allows them to maintain confidentiality, etc.
opponents will argue that to have DAP available OTC means "casual use" (no big deal) - this encourages irresponsible behavior and overlooks the danger of casual DAP use
it may also increase frequency of STI (STDs) because people will rationalize, "oh I can just use DAP tomorrow without a condom"

It is tantamount to abortion, it kills an egg after it is fertilized. After fertilization (sperm enters the egg) life is formed, no question about it.
