Because of shortage of paper - in other years even though paper was there, toilet paper production fell short and in yet other years, human beings accounted for less than half of population anyway!!

If you can not afford to food, medication, shelter, clothing, education or clean drinking water, I don't think that toilet paper would be high on your list of priorities.

Not too sure the reason for your question, if it is because you are concerned about this, perhaps you could look at sponsoring a child from the developing world. This would ensure that they would have the basics in life

why in the year 2006 do we still refer to the beginning of time around the life of Jesus Christ? Didn't the movement of history END during the Christian era? We should really start time around the renaissance. It's so easy for humans to lose all track of the important shït like toilet paper.

You ask why in the year 2006, as if we're supposed to be advanced by now. It would be nice if we were, but humans are still a largely immature species. Many are still ruled over by corrupt and/or poorly educated (often both) rulers whose economic policies keep their citizens in poverty. Many boneheaded economic policies are very well intentioned, but based on political dogma rather than sound economic theory. Like socialism.

In other places the rulers are simply evil, and view the well-being of the citizenry as irrelevant. They view the function of the people as serving the state rather than vice versa. This is true in communist countries, corrupt African kelptocracies, and other places oppressed under brutal dictatorships.

Actually, in the MidEast and most countries in the Indian subcontinent, they have hoses. You wash thoroughly, but for some reason toilet paper never caught on, so you just walk around a bit damp and get used to it. Probably because plumbing systems aren't the most complex in the universe around there.
