I use to put them in the refridgerator and it seemed to work..you know what also works...is if you rub an eraser from the end of a pencil and rub both ends of the battery for a few minutes and will give you a little charge.

Don't ask me how this works, but it does. rub the negative end with a pencil eraser. making small circles. it will recharge it a little bit.

you should not freeze a battery...too hot and it will kill a battery...same for too cold.

theres chemicals in a battery and they just don't last forever...just replace it.
