I have been a nurse for 12yrs...and usually if a child is hyper..it is caused by antihistamines or steriods...(i.e. Benadryl, Pediapred, Dimetap). Do NOT give your baby aspirin as it can give them Rye Syndrome ..which can be fatal. I would definitely notice your Pediatrician. You can alternate tylenol and motrin at 4 hour intervals..but dont give him that for prolonged periods. Sometimes you will get a better result if you alternate them.
Is the Tylenol or Motrin the kind with allergy medicine in it? (ie Tylenol Sinus for Children). The "sinus" part of those medicines are antihistamines! Hope this helped...hope your son gets to feeling better...I hate it when my kids are sick.

Some kids get hyped on medications instead of drowsy. A cold has to run its course anyway so medicines do not help much. If he has a sore throat give him a spoon full of honey. My kids loved hot lemon drinks when they had a cold. Good old chicken soup works. Just keep up his fluids and don't worry too much about food. For fevers keep bathing him and make sure he doesn't rug up and this sends the fever higher. If you can avoid antibiotics he will build up his own resistance.

Gee, ain't it grand you come on a public forum where anyone can claim to be anything, a doctor, a mother, or hey even God himself to give you advise on your child's health and well being but in fact they are simply a pimply faced teen who hasn't seen the light of day for a week since he keeps locked up in his room, on the computer pretending to have all these answers.
With a question involving the health of your child, call the doctor!!!

Don't give him any of that junk. Just make him rest, give him chicken soup and lots of juice and water, and it should run it's course in a week or maybe two at the most.

Medicine doesn't cure the cause. The only time you need to worry is if he gets a very high fever, and his chest gets terribly congested and he coughs all night.

That medicine always 'wierded' me out too and i hated it.

Tylenol and Motrin will not cure his cold, It's not life threatening. Lots of O.J. for vitamin C, soup, as much rest as he will tolerate. It will run it's course don't worry.

Sometimes different meds just affect people (and babies) differently. Everytime I take benedryl, for instance, I can't sleep at all. Maybe your little one just reacts to it differently. Try giving him infant benedryl at night, it dries up a runny nose and usually helps them rest. It worked the best for my son, it was doctor advised also.

No idea but I would let the Dr know or call the ER to see what they advise, he needs to know for his records also. Have you tried baby aspirin?
