People get paralyzed from wrecking nerves.
Muscle injuries can be an array. Like a pulled muscle, muscle cramp.
Muscle cramps are involuntary and often painful contractions.
One important event, which occurs early after an injury, is muscle spasm. This feels like tightness in the muscles in the area, and is sometimes, but not always, painful. Treatment of the spasm is significant in the overall treatment of the problem. This is because after an initial period, if the basic injury is not fixed, the spasm forms muscle knots. Usually this happens about two weeks after the initial injury. These knots are painful, and become part of the problem. Sometimes, the pain from the muscle knots is the reason why someone first goes to get help with the problem.

If the bone is in the spine at a certain level and the bone breaks, impinging on the spinal cord, paralysis can result. Temporary paralysis can happen if the correct nerve is impacted in an extremity.
A muscle spasm is a sudden uncontrolled contraction of a muscle.

Neither. Only a damaged or severed nerve can cause paralysis. It does so by interfering with the signals that your brain sends to the body to tell it to move.
