I have some experience with this, actually. It makes your heart hurt to know that you cannot be near them. "Oceans apart, day after day, and I slowly go insane. I hear your voice on the line, but it doesn't stop the pain". I would write a poem to profess my love for them, because I speak better in verse and rhyme than I do with the spoken word.

I was separated from my fiancé for 14 months by 300 miles. I spoke to him everyday & everyday, I would tell him I missed him.

when he was across the world in Iraq, I told him, I loved him, to Be Safe and to Come home to me
Luckily, I still love him, and he did those things for me and is home safe now :)
