Rabbits do better in the cold than they do in the heat. They can adjust to the outside cold very well. If you give it a nesting box with hay in it, it will stay plenty warm. Make sure that there are no drafts that can get directly to it though. When it does get cold, make sure that it has fresh unfrozen water all day long.

My bunny lives out all year round and considering I've had him for nearly a decade and he's still in top conidtion, I can safely say that, unless you have EXTREME cold, they are hardy animals and suffer no real harm during the winter months (and I live on the English sea front so it gets pretty chilly.)

I make sure my bunny has LOTS of straw to sleep in, he usually constructs himself a little nest and he stays warm that way. I also cover the hutch with blankets etc at night to keep the heat in. Remember, wild bunnies do okay; they don't hop in to garages as winter approaches!

I had a rabbit that I found. It lived outside all year long. I did not keep it caged as he was perfectly happy hopping around the yard. He dug himself a little burrow and he had a box. Since having him I could never cage an animal like a rabbit. It seems so sad.. If building your rabbit even a small yard is possible please consider it. I ended up having to "confine" mine into a smaller area (10'x10') when we did our landscaping, he seemed just as happy. It really doesn't take much space and I think it will make your mom, and the bunny happier..

But if you have a dog I guess that will make a difference, I had a cat and they got along fine.

By nature they can adapt very well to extreme weather by getting into thier burrow. Hence there is no problem leaving it outside as long as it has enough time to pick and choose a place for it to make a burrow for itself and it usually would hibernate there. So watch out for a while whether it find itself a place for it else please do bring it in. If this is not possible, make sure you leave it in the animal shelter so that some one else can take care. It is better to do that rather than letting it die outside in the cold weather.

I wouldn't recomend having a rabbit out in the cold. We can get pretty cold here in Cali. If u must keep outside, then keep it in the garage atleast, and provide with some heat some how. A small heater maybe? If it is snowing, or frosty, or close to either one, keep it inside the house.

We had rabbits that were always outside here in Montana. They stayed in stalls in our barn and had boxes to go in. The boxes had straw bedding in them. Some rabbits were kept alone, the anti-social ones, and others stayed in pairs with their best buds. As long as it has shelter and some bedding with insulation value, can stay dry and has enough food, your bunny should be fine. Don't let the water freeze either!

im sure she will be fine. If it gets below zero or anything like that i would bring it in. I doubt it will get that cold where your at. Just put extra hey or whatever bedding you use so the bunny can curl up and get warm in its little box that the bunny sleeps in the cage. .

As long as the rabbit hutch is protected from rain and wind, rabbits can take cold with no problem at all. For more info I have a web site on rabbits:

i keep my rabbit in a shed in the garden to keep the rain/wind off him at night. if you dont have a place like this to shelter your bunny try and old shower curtain to cover the hutch at night and lift it up in morning - this will help contain heat and keep wind off them too. fill the sleeping quarters up with loads of hay and straw for bun to snuggle into. and you can also get things called snugglesafe which is a little pad made espcially for animals you heat in mircowave. put it under the hay and ur rabbit will be nice and snug

Bunnies do very well in the cold. Provide a windproof shelter and she'll be fine. Even if it snows LOL.
