1st try this,log on to mail then go to games,for some reason it by-passes the 999 error as well as my yahoo page. if that doesn't work try this;
Yahoo just did updates to the sites! Your old game demo is now stale and will not open games.
Doing this should get you back in. This works with XP and may work for older windows. Click on my PC ,disk drive C, open windows folder,next open Downloaded programs file. click on game you want to play to high lite it.delete it.Now go back to game,it will prompt you to download a demo,do so and page will open! If you don’t have XP or can not find the game file, Click on start,search,type in downloaded program files,open it then do the above.if thisDoesn’t work try going to tools,internet options,clear cookies.

I have been reading what seems like for hours now on how to fix the 999 error...problem is that it all seems to be in yahoo's hands..not ours...I can get on my mail, messenger, myyahoo, some yahoo games...but I can't get into poker, dueces wild, pool, spades or any other game that includes a game room (where ppl are)! The weird part is that I can't get in under my username and password but my husband can, and can get into the all the games on yahoo (same computer with 2 different users)...so yahoo isn't blocking my IP address as I have read over and over looking for an answer to the same problem you are having...we seem to be a yahoo's mercy! Sorry!

This error appears to be caused by some sort of bandwidth limiting system that Yahoo has put in place on their servers. Once you have exceeded your allotted bandwidth for a specific period of time Yahoo gives you this Error 999 message and doesn't allow you to access the service. People have primarily reported receiving this error when they try to access Yahoo Mail or Yahoo Groups, but other Yahoo services may also be affected.

Why has Yahoo done this? There are two reasons that I can think of:

To prevent DoS (Denial of Service) attacks.
To stop automated tasks from hammering their servers with hundreds of requests a second.
Once triggered you will find that your IP address has been blocked for a period of time somewhere between 2 and 24 hours.

There is no solution you have to wait it out.........but ... Log into Yahoo through a different country's server. I.e. if you usually log into Yahoo via http://login.yahoo.com/ then try http://login.korea.yahoo.com/ or http://login.europe.yahoo.com/.
