I have been thinking this for a while and I wanted some opinions. Do you think that a role on a TV show can affect a child. For instance if a child of 5 gets a role on Law and Order SVU for example playing a rape victim of a child pedaphile. I think that the child being so young could be harmed eotionally talking about it for so long and acting it out. Maybe I am just nuts but I think it could effect the child.

I don't think that it would be in the best interest of the little actor to know why they are supposed to be acting sad or mad, because at this age, they really cannot empathize very well, and telling them about child rape would damage their little psyches. However, they are good little actors, my children know how to really milk tears to manipulate me. It would be easy enough to get a child to act sad or mad just by asking them.

i think in a sense until the child sees that big fat pay check and is like "damn, thats all i had to say " They coach the child well and make sure its a mature child that understands the difference , most are kids of hollywood stars and already know the game. Its not like they pick some kid and say "hey if you say this you can have $$" its a very long psychologically drawn out event.. Didnt anyone see the program on dateline about this like ayear ago.. they had some controversy and they made their point well.

Yes. I belive that when kids are put on tv shows it yanks them out of childhood and into adulthood and the loose a normal healthy childhood, somthing every child should have. a person only gets on shot at being a kid. they have the rest of there life to be an adult. aside from that importand life lessons are learned in childhood. without them it can effect them in adulthood

Honestly . . .

Yes!
I know some kids who watch tv and being influenced by how violent the shows are.
Before presenting shows in tv . . . some first warns us that this show needs parental guidance. Think! Why would they tell us that if this cannot affect kids who watch it!

They're gonna learn about it eventually. you can't stop that. I hate people that think that it's bad for kids to know what sex is. or what violence is. it's BS. They'll find out eventually, and you can't stop it. just like death. "OH EMM GEE DOUBLE YOU TEE EFF! BEE BEE QUEUE!!!!! BUTSECKS!!!"
