Raj is completely wrong. He is not considering the fact that the Core 2 Duo is built on a much better architecture than the Pentium 4 and therefore outperforms it even when the clock speed is lower. The Core 2 Duo is faster.

Core Duo is probably faster... But I have a computer that is Core Duo and one that has Pentium 4 and they both seem about the same speed to me.

Core duo is built on a different platform then the pentium is and core duo has 2 physical chips so to pipelines is better then 1.

If your about to buy go for the DUO E6600 leaves all behind, its worth the extra money, you will not be disappointed, but make sure your Motherboard will support DUO.

im not an expert, but i would say the Duo is faster, just because it has physically 2 proccessors inside, even if they are half the speed.

it will be swifter at some issues, yet as quickly as while you're working classes that use a super form of RAM then your pc will merely start to freeze. So the swifter processor would be ineffective.

In noramal scenario p4 will be faster. 2 duo will be faster if your application are build for multiprocessers. else it will work normally
