It's typical that people want a flashy design. But actually flashy designs can sometimes get in the way of a good site (eg: Craigslist). If you really want to be successful you need to look at much more then just the graphic design. You need to look at the overall site structure and flow. Successful sites have three things in the following order:

1. Content (most important, and not just content, but content that people want in a format that they want).

2. Usability (usability also includes searchability [think SEO] people have to find the content from the search engines and then they have to find it in your site. There are tons of sites out there that 'look good' but they suck because people can't navigate them or the information isn't organized in a way that is logical.

3. Graphic design (this is third behind content and usability. It's important but not as important as building a site that is easy to use).

The best example of this is the old Disney.com site. They paid lots of money to have a site built that was totally awesome to look at, the graphic designers were in control and they built this site that won all sorts of awards for its design. (they made the site look like a map to Disneyland and put lots of links in the pictures etc). The graphic community loved the site, but the users HATED it. When surveyed, users could only find what they were looking for 16% of the time. The site was a total failure even when the 'graphic artist' world was giving it awards. Jump forward a few years and Disney.com is now less 'flashy' less graphically stunning design, and now 80% of the people who visit the site say they found what they came there for. Now the site is a real success even though the 'graphic design' community isn't giving it any awards.

Just some food for thought, when you look for a web design firm to help you build your site, don't just look at their portfolio and see if their sites look cool, try to see if they know anything about usability and user centered design. Want help- read "don't make me think" good book that talks about how to design pages that are usable.

Try to find a firm that has performed usability studies and knows how to constrain the graphic design by applying usability rules. Feel free to email me if you want help!

Best Advice, this is the worst place to look for help. Odds are you are about to get 5-20 comments from bored annoying people, spammers, and people that will rip you off.

Try some place more social or with user created graphics integratted (sorry, I can't spell and someone is yelling in reality). If some of my friends were online I'd ask them and either they could help or they would know someone that can,.. but my connection has been horrible so I am not able to contact them and the violence and yelling too much for me to just do it for you for free >.< Plus my connection would mess things up, too.

i might recommend a 2 pronged approach on the same time as you're nevertheless staring at around. Get a internet ebook (loose with Google Blogger) and an account at Flickr (additionally loose). the 1st we could you write approximately your %. and supply you properly look for engine presence, the 2nd we could you host pics loose and lead them to available under a sort of licences. i might additionally recommend staring at around photos forums and internet sites, detect a pair that attraction to you and which you will possibly evaluate relaxed posting on - you will have the flexibility to then get properly suggestion at no fee.
