I have a bunch of songs already on my computer and they're all mp3 format. can i put those on an ipod or would I have to purchase the same songs from iTunes that i already have?

(concerning apple's iPod nano 2nd generation and windows ME)

No, you do not have to purchase the songs again. If the songs are already on your computer, just set iTunes as your default music player. Then play the songs. They will play in iTunes therefore adding them to your library OR you could drag the songs into iTunes. If you have them on a cd just put the cd in and play it in iTunes. Then import them to the library. You could also get limewire or another free downloading sharing system. There are also many downloading services that are legal and you pay a few dollars per month and get a certain amount of songs per month or even unlimited per month. But in iTunes you have to pay for every song you buy, which is a rip off.

No... you can rip songs (mp3 format) from a CD, download from any other websites, etc.and download them on your iPod and No... you don't have to purchase/download the same songs again.

my daughter has ipod she just loads on from real player all her own music
