I'm a huge Little Mermaid fan so it's hard for me to agree. Beauty and the Beast is also excellent... and Finding Nemo is incredible. So many things come into the decision... are we talking about content, storyline, musical numbers, humor, drama, animation quality or the total package?
If I had to name one BEST animated movie.... hmmmmm,
Okay, I'm with you... It's The Lion King.

Hell, yeah! I thought Scar was the coolest cartoon villian ever, I love Jeremy Iron's snide exchange with Simba:
"Young Simba: Hey, Uncle Scar. Guess what?
Scar: I despise guessing games.
Young Simba: I'm going to be King of Pride Rock.
Scar: Oh Goodee.
Young Simba: My dad just showed me the whole kingdom. And I'm gonna rule it all. Heheh.
Scar: Yes, well forgive me for not leaping for joy. Bad back, you know.
Young Simba: Hey Uncle Scar, when I'm King, what'll that make you?
Scar: A monkey's uncle.
Young Simba: You're so weird.
Scar: You have no idea."
And Simba and Nala are the best friends-turned-lovers screen couple! And Timon and Pumbaa were friggin' hilarious! And Zazu and Rafiki were entertaining! And Mufasa is an awesome father-figure! And the scenery, so beautiful!
Definitely the King of all Cartoons.

Its a good animated movie but not the best, and the story isn't even original, try watching kimba the white lion by osamu tezuka, a japanese animation.

Gosh, that was such a good movie. But, I can't deny Sebastian in the Little Mermaid. Close call.

No but I think that it is among the best animated movies that Disney has made.

It's good...but In My Opinion, The INCREDIBLES is Much Better!
(BTW: I am also of the Opinion that the Soundtrack is Fantastic!)

i would say the jungle book or the lion king. ice age wasn.t bad either! and who could forget shrek they all were awesome!
