storing mp3's shouldn't slow your oomputer down that much.

If you are having problems, chances are it's one of a couple of things.

a) you need more ram. Ram defines how fast data is sent around your computer. If you have a busy and full HD it will use a lot of ram....affectign the time it takes to seek and retrieve data.

b) you have a slow and/or badly fragmented drive. USe your admin tools (Control Panel > Admin Tools >Computer Management > Defragmenter) to see what condition your drive is in. IAfter you have run the analyze function it will tell you if you need to defragment the drive or not.
If the drive is ok then chances are you have a slow spinning drive with slow transfer and seek times. Two options...get a better drive, or get a second drive and use one for system files and another just for music and media.

3) if you have used an illegal P2P program it's probably full of spyware. These programs run quietly in the background collecting data on your internet habits. They can slow your computer down a lot...
