There's no reason in the world why America's northern neighbors are prosperous and our neighbors to the south can't be. They shouldn't be protesting our government. They should be protesting their own! Asking their government what they're doing about the situation. Why they can't be prosperous and live well in their own country.

Latinos shouldn't be insulted. The only ones that should have a problem with it are criminals coming over the border illegally...regardless of the race. This action is being taken by the US to prevent an illegal behavior....illegal entry into the US. It's not an action being taken against a race.

Latinos should be no more insulted by the preventive action of erecting a fence than Target customers should be insulted by the theft prevention devices on clothes and the alarm gates at the doors.

We have laws on how to get into the country. Abide by the laws or don't come in. So many thieves, drugs and terrorist are coming over the border. IT HAS TO STOP. It is not George's fence but a protection of our borders from people coming in here, taking from US and not giving back. There is a need to protect us from people coming in, not people going out. So in this case good fences are great.

Why would Latinos be insulted? Building the fence is to stop terrorists from crossing into our country from Mexico. It will also have the side effect of reducing illegal immigration. Nobody is saying anything against Latinos. Latino immigrants are still welcome, we would just like them to be here legally.

Mr. Bush obviously forgot about the Berlin Wall. That didn't stop the east Germans from trying to get out and his fence out in the boonies of the desert won't keep the illegals out either. Might slow them down a little but it won't cure the problem.

The better question would be why has nothing been done to stop the illegals from crossing the border when the U.S. tax payers have to pay for their medical, school, and give them the same rights as a U.S. citizen.

I don't care if Mexico is insulted. No country in the world has open borders. Why should we? Try crossing into Mexico illegally and see what happens to you.

The trouble with fences is that they work both ways, you may feel imprisoned and I thought america was supposed to be part of the free world
