Are righteousness and malevolence acts that could only be committed against other people? If one is in confinement of solitude, coming in contact with no other persons or animals, is it possible that said person could commit any of these acts?

If so, what is judged as good and evil are only in the context of company.

Is it possible that one could commit these acts upon oneself?

If so, could it be said that any malevolence, be it towards others, or nature, or oneself, is only deleterious to the one committing said acts?

Why do we call actions made by people, and people only for the most part, good or bad?

That is an interesting question... all I really have to say is this...one can definately hate oneself, and hatred could be looked upon as evil. You are harming yourself by hating, hurting, or otherwise doing something to yourself that would have negative consequences.

Actions could be 'life-positive' or 'life-negative' !
This was the criteria evolved while calling it 'good' or 'bad' !
Over a period of time, with the quality of leaders getting diluted (possession of material wealth becoming a symbol of 'great' would only lead to such a situation!), the usage, meaning too got diluted , polluted, enough to create such a confusion ! That is politics! Even declaring or suggesting that globe was round and that the 'earth was not flat', was considered a 'bad' deed and punished !

We call human actions "good" and "bad" because the rest of nature is not subject to moral law. A wasp laying its eggs in a caterpiller does not make the choice to murder--only the choice to ensure the survival of its genetic line. Only human beings have the ability to reflect on their actions and make attempts of restitution.

As for the rest of your excellent questions, it is what we do when we think we are alone that defines who we are morally, far more than what we do when we think we are in the presence of others.

thinking is an act, and so evil thoughts are evil acts. also, some religions consider suicide an evil act, which can be performed in solitude.

Good point, Gus.....

I don't think you can do anything that would be considered "good' or "bad" unless you are doing them to someone or something else.

Thanks for the interesting thought
