I am a Buffalo fan all the way (born and raised in the Queen City). But, Saturday is not going to be a cake walk. Atlanta has a good team. Their 3-2 loss in the shoot out to the Flyers makes me a little more optimistic. But, as much as I would like them to, Buffalo can't win forever.
Last night the Sabres played a decent game against a weak team. The score should have been a lot higher then 3-0. Miller was the only player who was really on fire with his first shoot out of the season. Offense was slow, but they still out played the Islanders.
So here is my prediction for Saturday: 4-3 Buffalo with two goals by Afinogenov, one by Drury, and one by Vanek.
Let's go Buffalo!!

I would have to agree that the record doesn't mean all that much. By breaking the record what they are doing is getting a good jump in the standings to help them down the road if they go into a slump. My opinion, get as many wins as you can in the beginning cause you know a slump is gonna come. Hopefully all the games you won earlier will help you out and keep you in a good position for the playoffs. As someone else pointed out.....I don't know if you can consider it breaking the record because of the lack of the shootout back then. If anything, it should be setting a new record. Hey, I bleed blue and gold like many of you. But the record isn't as big of a deal as what happens at the end of the year. One game at a time.

All I can say is I agree with the one comment before. They aren't BREAKING THE RECORD. I am a Penguins fan for the record so I don't care if they break it or not. Now back to the answer. The Sabres have 3 SHOOTOUT WINS. In the old NHL, when the Maple Leafs put in the record, their record would be 7-0-3. So call that your record if you want but still didn't really break the orginal record.

What's the big deal? the last team to go 10-0 in the BEGINNING of the season, didn't even win the Cup. Am I right Maple Leafs fans? Heck the Leafs didn't even win Anything that year. So, basically, if it means more to you that the Sabres break a stupid record that means nothing, then more power to you.

It's always good to see a perfect 10! But an 11 or 12 would be the icing on the cake!
Go Blue and Gold!!

I think with only a few strong teams in the East, Buffalo has a good chance of making a huge new record.

They really have not played any good teams yet. I think they will lose to Atlanta. I am not a Thrashers fan or a Sabres fan.

I don't think it's all that surprising -- look at the team they have coming back! Drury is on fire, Afinogenov makes everybody look like they're going in slow motion, and your goaltending is on fire. Even Lindy Ruff isn't finding a lot to complain about, and he's tough to please.
Add in all the young, good players -- Kotalik comes to mind -- and I was a believer to begin with! Gotta love those small-market teams!

It's not how you start, but how you finish. It means nothing if they don't win the Cup!
