I am planning on going to a technical college, but I haven't gotten a clear answer about how long a degree like that. It's ranged from 10 months to over a year.

NO NO.. Don't go to school for pharmacy tech not worth it... I did it and felt dumb b/c when i did the internship at a pharmacy the pharmacist told me i wasted my time...you don't need to go to school if you want to be a pharmacy tech jus t get a job at a pharmcy you'll be a cashier but ask a pharmacist you want to be a tech...I know most retail pharmacies will train you and pay for your
certification...If you want to be a pharmacist go to your community college and go for pharmacy... Very few schools offer pharmcay so do your research (pharmacist.com)...as for pharmacy technician (ptcb.org)....ohh and it's 6 years to be a pharmacist.....Good Luck

There are different programs in the United States. In California, they have programs in the Community Collges (18 months) and there are accelerated program (8 - 12 months). Going to Tech school was the best choice for me. I researched the place I went to and I loved it. It is understood that no school guarantees you a job. With that said, concentrate on your courses. Learn your drugs and pay attention to clinicals. That is how you will succeed in tech school. It's not the easiest thing in the world. After externship, I was hired by Kaiser and I'm loving it. There are plenty of opportunites as a Tech also (Pharmacy Store, Hospital, Biotech, Research, Sales) It's a booming industry.
Hope this helps!

Do not get a degree to be a pharmacy tech. It is not worth it. The pharmacy will teach you all you need to know. Starting salary for an uncertified, no experience tech is about $8-$9 per hour, and for a certified, no experience tech is about $10-$11 per hour. To become a pharm tech in my state, all you need is a high school diploma.

there is no clear answer, because there is no prescribed course of study that is consistent from state to state.
