When working for KBR/HALLIBURTON in Iraq, Are you forced to finish the one year contract?
If after 6 months or anytime period before your contract is up are there any penalties? How easy is it to leave early if that is what one decides to do? Thanks in advance!

When in Iraq, I asked some of their employees the same question. They stated that they could quit and go home any time, as long as they could hire a replacement. When a lot of them do quit, it can be a blight on your employment record. Most do not quit when in Iraq. They usually do not go back after they go home on leave.

you can't be forced. The common law of the master/servant relationship is entered into freely and you are free to exit this relationship. Any penalties are in the documents on your file which an employer must maintain. Some of these can be mitigated depending on circumstance such as an employers duty to provide a safe work environment. If you are self employed and are contracted as such the penalties would be civil.

Of course you can leave - and you can also count on them suing you and taking back any money you were paid while you were working for them. If you don't want to stay the entire length of the contract you shouldn't sign it in the first place.

You sign a contract, of course you have to stay. Do you think you're playing in the NFL, MLB' or NBA? We all know only sports stars can piss & moan and change their contracts before they finish them out.

You'll probably get killed before you finish your contract.
