Unfortunately many are being deceived with misinformation on the subject. No cures are "coming down the pipeline," so-to-speak from this kind of research. Some people (aided and abetted by the media) are just itching to stretch the boundaries on decent and human treatment for the unborn. They are doing it to prove some sick point. Other stem-cell research- like adult and cord blood research- has proven to be much more promising, but is not given nearly as much media attention.

That is so true. What they (and the Fox boy) really want
is the "cloning bill" to pass, so they're trying to get every
one to feel sorry for those with Parkinsons (which we do)
and pass the Stem Cell bill. It will not cure Parkinsons.
THey now have an upcoming virus injectiion they do on
the brain which is showing good responses in those with
this disease, so let's put the research money there.

What are you talking about? The use of stem cells is so restricted that scientists have to wait months or even years to ge approval. Those studies that have approvial are making damn sure the have it right before unvailing their cures. Clinical studies take a long time, believe it or not.

Nobody ever said that the use of stem cells WILL lead to cures. They only say it COULD lead to cures.

We won't know for sure for some time now. If they find no cures at all when using embryonic stem cells, then you can start your self-rightous rant. Until then, let them work on finding cures.

Its like playing the lottery; you don't buy a ticket and expect a guarantee of a winner up front!

For some reason you stem cell research haters never seem to get it that these embryos are flushed down the toilet if not used for research. They are never going to be a cute baby that looks like you.

They said the same thing to Copernicus, when he said the earth revolves around the Sun.

There is no one who knows what will happen with stem cell research, but if your child was paralyzed and the doctor said we might have a chance to have them live a normal life by using stem cells, I'd bet you'd say "do it!". Embryos aren't the only source of stem cells.

so then why post this question - if nothing has happened and you are inferring nothing will - what is all the noise about - if we ever go to the extreme and make a better human and they take over us - well the fittest survives has been going on since the single cell evolved.

Ah thank you for your sanity. In addition, embryonic stems cells have actually been known to produce tumors. Adult and umbilical cord stem cells have had wonderful results though. I think they should stick with those since they have proven good results and the patients can actually volunteer to give up those cells.

they are doin important resarch.
y would they liee if they knew in advance that it wouldnt work?
it is possible that stem cell resarch wont help us, but there is a big chance it will. If your against it because they havent found a cure yet, its like being against breast cancer resrch b/c they havent found a cure.

How do you know it's a lie. I'm sure they said that about a lot of things before they were invented or discovered.
