Hey Montecarlo,
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, James Van Patten followed in the footsteps of his father, actor Dick Van Patten. James became a professional actor by age nine. When he was a teenager, the Van Pattens moved to Hollywood, where he was immediately cast as a reform school boy in the hit television series "The Odd Couple" (1970), launching a successful acting career.
Jimmy literally grew up guest-starring on television series, mini-series and feature films. He also starred in two television series of his own, one of them, opposite Robert Preston in the award winning series, "The Chisholms" (1980) for CBS, playing the role of "Bo Chisholm". James also starred in Ron Howard and Brian Grazer's Image Entertainment's comedy series "Poison" for Showtime. He was later cast as the lead in a dark dramatic role and received critical acclaim for the feature film Young Warriors (1983) opposite Ernest Borgnine.
James' theater experiences includes "Mr. Roberts" at the San Antonio Fiesta Theater, "Breakfast with Les and Bes" at the Burt Reynolds Jupiter Theater, the world debut of "Passengers" touring with the Frank Kenley Players, the critically acclaimed national tour of "The Sunshine Boys" in 2001-2002 (appearing in over 100 cities in the role of Ben Silverman), and, the Broadway bound "Harvey" at the Laguna Playhouse and the Cord Theater on Broadway in 2004.
