UGH, I was walking into the living room and I tripped (I THINK on the rug or something) and I fell face down! WHAT is WRONG with me this week??? ... everything is happening to me this week! OMG.... what do you do when you fall face down? I mainly bruised the heck out of my breasts, I don't think I fell on my stomach... I'm seriously a clutz.. Oh thank GOD my boyfriend is asleep, if he found out he would have rushed me straight to urgent care... should I go? Even if I didn't fall directly on my stomach, could the baby still be injured?? Boy, I didn't seem to care a few days ago... it's weird... it's like being pregnant is changing my feelings on things. I'm 4 and a half months pregnant and not showing at all, very physically fit, I mean, does that even matter when you fall? I don't know. I have no friends or family who have kids and understand, that's why it's so hard and I seem so naive. I just felt the baby kick today and now I have to repay it by doing this! I feel horrible.. help!

Lindsey, I don't expect you to understand the crap I've been going through. First of all, it wasn't a medical condition, My baby is just growing higher up in my body. I had no idea how far along I was UNTIL I took those tests and went to the doctors. I have nothing to prove to you and I am still getting over the shock myself. And um, YES. I DID fall. I've had the most horrible week that you can imagine and I don't expect you to understand any of it, especially what it's doing to the rest of my life. I'm tired and I am very emotionally drained and like I said, DON'T expect you to understand. You're giving me more stress that I can already handle, so please leave me alone and keep your comments to yourself. I know you're trying to prove some point, but not everyone's life is as black and white as yours. Just saying, That's all.

And yeah, as you can guess, I am a very dramatic and emotional person, but this is getting WORSE as I am PREGNANT now!! So yeah, I'm going to get freaked out and expect the worst and ask for everyone's help, even if it's nothing at all! That's what I do! I worry! I am woman too, you know.

Your baby is well protected in there. He/she is cushioned by muscle and fluid--you're a walking waterbed! Even a hard blow to the abdomen is not likely to cause harm, especially if you're so fit, and especially if you're not really showing.

You probably don't have cause to worry.

But you're going to, anyway. So, instead of rushing off to the ER, give your doctor a call. I know it's outside of office hours, but there will be someone on call that you can talk to. Just explain what happened, and they will advise you about what your specific doctors' office wants you to do.

Alternatively, if you have access to a NurseLine, you could give them a call. Same deal.

I played indoor soccer until I was 6 months, and it's a pretty physical game with a lot of jostling, falling, and getting whacked with the ball. My OB said I was fine to play until I felt I couldn't anymore. (As the baby gets bigger, you get out of breath easier and your joints loosen up, making sprained ankles, etc, more likely.) She said that I shouldn't TRY to trap the ball using my abdomen, but that it probably wouldn't cause a problem if I did.

I also had a bike accident at 7 months during my first pregnancy, but my daughter came through it just fine.

Just call, to ease your mind.

You should be fine! Just slow down a little.

When I was pregnant with my first child, I was walking into a store (I was about 6 or 7 months along at the time, wearing big prego overalls...) and a guy turned around when someone called his name and punched me right in the stomach. It almost knocked the wind out of me, he did not mean to do it, and was appropriately horrified about the incident, but everything was okay.

You will only become more off-center from here on out, so make conscious efforts to walk slowly and pay attention to where you're going. Now is a great time to start talking to your baby if you aren't already. When you start to take things slower, and notice you might have tripped, tell your baby "we almost tripped over that", and such. It will help you to be mindful that you're "walking for two" now!

If you notice any bleeding, you should definitely be concerned and talk to your doctor right away.

Its ok, Dont worry about it. Im sure your baby is fine. Just lay back and see if you can still feel the baby kicking just to reassure yourself. I fell hard when I was 7 months pregnant and my baby was fine. The baby is protected well. Dont worry too much. Your just overwhelmed with emotions right now because of your hormones. Im also 4 1/2 months pregnant right now. I know its a hard time and very emotional. Just try and relax. Oh yeah, and when I was 8 months pregnant with my 2nd son I fell out of my van right onto the ground..lol. Pregnancy totally throws you off.

You're at that time in your pregnancy where your ligaments are softening and your pelvic bones are working their way apart...your center of gravity is shifting which in turn will make you a bit more clumsy.

I imagine if you didn't hit your stomach then you should be okay. The baby is quite cozy in it's little home of amniotic fluid and it takes a lot to disturb him/her. I would go ahead and call the urgent care clinic or your doc and let them know that you fell. Be sure and tell them that you didn't hit your belly and haven't been hurting or anything. That way, they can give you the best advice on whether or not to come in and be checked out.

I imagine you and baby are fine. Go ahead and call the clinic and then relax and enjoy your pregnancy.

Calm down there mama!! At this point in your pregnancy, your little peanut is so small and there is so much around him to protect it from any lil fall, bump, or jar. Baby more than likely did not even feel any effect from it at all. I fell down the stairs when I was 8 months pregnant, on my bottom and side belly bouncing all the way, and it just scared the hell out of me, and no harm done to the baby at all. There is lots of cushion in there. No Worries.

Baby is well cushioned. If you aren't having any bleeding or contractions you should be fine. All the Dr. or your urgent care clinic and tell them what happened. They will tell you what you need to know. And don't be upset with yourself. Your sense of balance is off and will be till this baby is born so just what your step. I was sitting on a picnic table bench sideways when I was pregnant with one of mine and just fell off in what felt like slow motion. They told me then that weeble's do fall down. Good luck and hazve a happy healthy baby

I did the exact same thing at 8 months pregnant, only I really did fall on my stomach. Call your doctor. I'm sure he/she will reassure you that everything is okay but it's better to be safe than sorry. If you aren't bleeding or in pain, everything's probably fine, but call your doctor anyway. They'll let you know if there's reason to be concerned. Take care of yourself and best wishes!

I'm sorry that you fell, and I hope that you're feeling better. Right now you're just going through a clumsy stage, so don't worry, you're not a klutz or anything. This is just a phase, but you should go and get checked out, just in case. Congratulations on the pregnancy, by the way!

First let me start with, it's ok, it happens. I tripped on a curb when I was 5months pregnant. Sometimes with pregnancy you may find yourself more clumsy or even forgetful. It's ok. I don't you have to rush to the ER or anything....unless you start to have cramps or bleeding or don't feel the baby move or anything out of the ordinary. If you're still worried about, schedule a visit with your OB/GYN or call L&D (if it's after hours) nurse or GYN nurse and ask them if you should come in. Congrats on the pregnancy!

I think that as long as it is comfortable to lay that way that it is not a problem. If it was uncomfortable, then it would be because it was putting to much pressure on the baby and you would feel that. I am a stomach sleeper as well. And when I was pregnant, I just had to use a body pillow and put one leg over it and lean forward as much as I could without actually being on my belly. Hope this helps. Congrats, and good luck to you.
