Most schools will use GPA and SAT scores as first round filters. With a 4.12, I'm guessing the challenge during SATs wasn't so much your knowledge, as your ability to handle stress, pay attention to detail, and make quick decisions. SATs are important, but just like with a complicated video games, once you know the rules and have gone through it a few times, scoring points isn't a problem. Learn the rules - by investing in an SAT prep book or having your parents invest in an SAT prep course for you - and you'll succeed at not only getting into schools like UCLA, but also scoring a Regents' scholarship worth a full ride.

A GPA of 4.12 indicates weighting. The GPA will be recalculated by the UC schools so that every applicant is under the same scale. Schools will look at varying components of clubs and the types of classes you took. The SAT is now out of 2400. I would try taking another SAT if possible as they will take the best scores. UCLA is a competitive school. The mid 50% of verbal which is the same as reading is 570 at the low end. The mid 50% of math is 600 at the low end. With this is mind, that means UCLA accepts 25% of it's student with SATs lower than that. You have a chance but it's not a definite. Good luck with your college applications.

for most schools your gpa, extra currics, residency, sats, etc are all worth certian points that add up to a total score that, if high enough, means you get in. a low sat will bring that score down, but it may still be high enough. the only ones who know for sure are the admissions office. you might wanna retake the sat if youre really worried

get it as high as possible. I got about a 1/4th full ride because of a high score, when my actual grades weren't that stellar.
