It's better to leave it on than turn it off and on, as far as the life of the hardware goes.

Virtually all the time. I like to turn mine off every day or two while sleeping so as to reset some things very easily. So virtually on all the time is okay.

computer can stay on all the time provided you have a backup supply or UPS (uninterruptable power supply) connected to it. you must also have a good cooling system (cpu fan/extra fan/system fan/heat pipe....) and air ventilation. it is bad for a PC to get a surge due to power supply outage, blackout or thunder storm. pc will get overheat if it stay on for a long time without having a good cooling system and air ventilation. conserve energy by enabling the power management (APM/ACPI) in your PC or switch it off if not in use for a long period of time. by doing this you are not only saving energy but your money as well by paying less electricity bills and saving your PC from any possible damage.

No. It fact, it is better for it to stay on than be turned off and on alot. A good idea would be too use the idle time for something productive. Do a virus scan or something.

your pc can stay on 24/7 if you want. but like anything else parts do ware. and sometimes it helps windows to regroup by shutting down. only takes about 45sec to boot up anyway.
