I am 17 years old right now. I have had yeast infections around once a year since I was 9. Recenty, I've been getting more. I've always had burning for about an hour after I use the bathroom, and it hurts to sit down. I am allergic to Monistat, so my doctor prescribes me Diflucan. Diflucan works wonderfly, but after 2 "cure-all" doses, the yeast infection came back. I have tried all of the folk remedies, like vinegar and water douches and yogurt. Nothing has worked.

Could I have a more persistant problem?

Yes. If you have chronic yeast infections, something is out of balance in your body. Yeast (candida) infections present when the good bacteria in the body have been wiped out. Long term use of antibiotics can cause this. Good bacteria keep yeast in its place until something destroys the bacteria. Then the yeast multiply tremendously. Another cause is that the person is diabetic. Also, you could be passing it back and forth with your sexual partner, if any. A child of 9 should not be getting this stuff. You also should not be having the burning after urination that long afterwards and this is not usually a symptom. Diflucan is becoming resistant because of its wide spread use for this problem. So, it is not a cure all. Sounds like a trip to the Dr. is needed here. Yeast can invade your entire body so you need to purge this from your body. Pau d' Arco is a natural herbal supplement that helps do this. It is found in health food stores that sell herbals. Also, you probably have it in your gut as well. There is a natural medicine that does this. I forget the name but ask a pharmacist. I think it is called Flora Q. After you have rid your body of the yeast, then continue to take the Pau d' Arco daily. It is a probiotic that acts like a tonic and keeps your immune system healthy. Then eat lots of yogurt with the active acidopholus culture and cut out sweets and breads from your diet. This is a miserable problem and I wish the best for you.

have you been having periods since you were 9? Are you sexually active? Are the yeast infections related to your cycle?
You need your thyroid gland tested as well as a fasting blood sugar to rule out diabetes. Diabetes is a common cause of persistant chronic yeast infections. If you have the thyroid and sugar test, and also are tested for STD's, then the only thing you can do as far as yeast is concerned is to try to eat healthy , cut back on simple carbs and sugar, and also you can take diflucan every month if your yeast infections are cyclic. Your pain with sitting down and after urinating concerns me..you need to be checked for a urinary tract infection. Take care

Sometimes a urinary tract infection can feel like a yeast infection. The treatments are very different. You might want to be checked for it. Talk to your doctor about the causes of a UTI too. You might be able to change something you do to avoid the problems.

Sometimes the high intake of sugar and carbs cause yeast infections as well as sweating, use of certain soaps, body lotions, and washing way to much with anti-bacterial products. Try using DOVE soap in the shower.

My friend had the same problem. She went to walmart and bought some azo's, she take them everyday and it works for her wonderfly. Try that. Hope it works!!! Good luck, because I hate yeast infections.

It can be a number of facilites, but if you doing all the stuff your dr has recommended and tried the other ones. I would definately have them do some test.

It could be allergic reaction to the underwear your wearing, what type of soap your using, even toilet paper etc. Its finding out what your allergic to.

Write down everything you use. soap, tissue, pad, underwear, even laundry soap.. anything can cause it.

Yes you could have, but just a little FYI... you raise your chances of getting cervical cancer from douching. You could also be one of those girls (like myself) that will all ways have them. Just make sure that your bath tub is always clean before you get in it. I would stick to showers, if you sexually active, make sure your partner takes the meds they need also. GL hun.... sry for your pain I know it sucks big ones.!!!
