Would I be wrong if I would have called the police on one of my girlfriends for leaving her 9 yr, 4yr, and 3yr old children in the house by themselves. I went to pick up my god daughter and she wasnt there. The kids were alone and I stayed there an hour and a half before she showed up. I threatened to call on her if she done it again, was I wrong for that?

Call the cops! What happens if a fire starts? what happens if someone robs her house and kidnaps the children? we had a case like this in Australia.... a baby was left at this girls bf house and something happened and the was found died a few days later in the bottom of a damn 20 mins away... its been thru court like 7 times and they still haven't charged anyone! It was really strange to, someone had gone past the house the same night and through a pig head thru the window. All to bizarre

You were wrong not to call the cops the first time. 9, 4, and 3 are too young to leave alone unattended.
She may retaliate by refusing to let you see the kids again, or even turning them against you, but you do nobody any favors by doing nothing.

I would have done the same thing, and next time, I would call. If she can't be responsible for those kids, she is really irresponsible to lay it on a 9 year old's shoulders. Don't ease up for a second if she argues with you. With all the services out there, there is no need for this to happen.

I think the 9 year old is adult enough to look after them for a hour or two.

No, I don't think you were wrong. Can't be to careful.

But 9 is kind of a questionable age. I would wait till say 12 to leave a kid in charge.

I would have called the police straight away....just think how you would feel if you did nothing and she left them again and something bad happened like a house fire.....you should do what is right for the kids, your girlfriend is a grown up, they aren't and they rely on adults to look after them

It really depends on several factors like of if she was at work and couldn't get anybody to watch them. I mean if she was just out a party and having a good time just offer to watch them, you may not get paid but if your that concern you won't care. This is a hard desicion for anybody to make you don't want your friend to lose her kid but you want them to be safe. I think telling her that you would call the cops on her might make her mad (It would make me mad) but at least she knows you care. Maybe she won't do it again, try and help her find some safe place to leave her kids like day care. once DCF takes your kids it might not be that easy to get them back. Just really let her know that you are for real and that you will call them if you have to

Absolutely not. That is called child neglect. Anything could happen to those kids while she is gone. The 9 year old is not old enough to take care of herself and the other kids..I would call the police..Good luck with your decision

No you werent wrong. she left while your daughter was there? How old is she. i wouldnt let her go over there anymore. they are way to young to be left alone, she cant expect a nine year old to be in charge of toddlers. whats wrong with people. She can get into alot of trouble. where im from there is a law that children under 12 cant be left alone. where was she?

Call the police next time that happens. If your friend is going to be a parent she needs to be responsible for her kids. You are absolutely correct and right for wanting to call the police.
