brown paper bag costume ideas?

my kids are not allowed to celebrate "halloween" at their school. instead they handed out these brown paper bags and told us to make costumes out of them. im sure the $40 costumes in the closet will do just fine but they insist we make this. so my question is are there any links to help my get some ideas on what to do?

Here's another idea. Cut and stick the paper bag into a rectangle and punch holes in a line at both the width of the rectangle. Wear the brown paper bag like a vest, lacing them up like shoe laces.

They'll look like pirate or cowboy vests. make the approprite accompanying weapon from the remaining paper bag. (can you buy one or must you use only the paper bags?

How about Sponge-Bob Squarepants. I made this costume before out of a box. I think a paper bag would work the same, if it's big enough. I feel for ya, that's a hard one!

I once took first place under similar restrictions.

I used a standard grocery bag, and painted an icon of the Virgin Mary on it (cutting careful eye holes) for myself. Then, using a lunch bag, I did a little Icon of the Christ Child, which I wore on my hand.

Probably not your school's cup of tea, but it WAS a prize-winner!
