i own a repair shop, and that's about all i would try to do with that truck, really that's too much for a ranger to pull,it may do some damage to the transmission on it because that's a lot of weight, and if you do try it you better make sure you have brakes on the trailer, because it going to be really hard to stop it once it gets going, good luck, and be care full, i hope this help,s.

My buddy tow's his 3000lb race car on a tandem trailor of unknown weight(steel) with a 4.3 v6 chevy with a 5 speed.

As for your ranger,it should be fine assuming you have a good tranny cooler.Hill's would be rough probrably, depending what gearing you have.I would have to say it wouldn't be a good idea unless it was pretty flat where your going.A time or two shouldn't hurt, but I wouldn't very often without a tranny cooler and proper gearing.
To find your gross vehicle weight and towing capacity, look on the driver side door.

If it is a 4x4 you can tow at least 5500 lbs, that includes passengers and luggage, that amount should be no problem for your Ranger. Do a Google search at http://www.google.com for specifications for your Ranger, or a quick visit to the dealer to ask, or maybe order an owner's manual, it's in there also.

Check your GVWR (GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT RATING ) capacity if your not sure call or go to the FORD DEALER [they will ask for your VIN# so they can see if your truck is specked to be able to pull the weight safely.
also a good size trans-cooler helps preserve the life of your transmission (good investment saves on excessive wear and trans runs much cooler).
good luck.

no problem ,might be hard on the truck, depending on the condition of the truck, and how the truck is equipped.
