I was raised a christian, and still keep basic christian morals, and beliefs. Anyhow am I the only person with these beliefs that thinks by choosing government based on religions is stupid, and the exact opposite of what this country was based on?

Dont get me wrong I have certains morals, and beliefs, that I will always stand by, but those are my choices. And it seems that the current administration is simply "using" christianity so that when they make other decisions, there is a sect in the country that refuses to questions their decisions. This country needs to be run objectively, not religiously. Tell me what you think.

No, you are not alone. Most people would never run their business based on purely religious views, but some think we should run the government that way.

I agree with your view entirely.

There is a lot going wrong with the use of religion by this administration -- I recommend you read Kevin Philips' "American Theocracy" to get the horrible details.

To an extent, the civil rights movement of the 1960's opened the door to this kind of religious politics with demonstrations and civil rights marches planned in church. The following 40 years have shown what this leads to in the long run.

Religious people who have the habit of deferred to authority are, themselves, being ripped off by the present administration. When someone says they want to use government to "strengthen the family" or make this a christian society, you are listening to a liar. Every time.

There is a difference between using christian values and forcing religion on someone.

I agree with your statement in your first paragraph. That is why the First Amendment states the government shall not establish a national religion. Our founders wanted people to be able to practice religion, which is why they put in the First Amendment that the government shall not prohibit the free exercise thereof (being religion).

I would need you to be more specific to address your question in your second paragraph.

Oh, this country needs to be run objectively, not religiously? Is that what you're saying? Keep religion out of it? I guess all our past presidents in the 17 and 1800's were running the country all wrong then. See, that's why everything could be getting worse all over; did you ever think of that? BECAUSE everyone's taking religion out of everything. I know alot of you won't agree, but I do alot of research.

Thank you! Now I know I'm not alone either, nor are you. I don't even think that the majority of them are particularly religious, they just use that as a powerful tool, to be used to squash opposition to their agendas, and at election time.

Talk is cheap. The current administration says whatever they think will be agreeable to the masses. Not that they will uphold what they say at a later time.

Could not agree more. In part some christains are also trying to use the president. They think the way to spread their religion is through the government. I dont' think Christ would have agreed with that. Also, because Christians are the majority religion in the country, it is their religion that they think should dominate.

Hey--welcome to answers. Your right on the money with your thoughts and perceptions of our Government. The truth about how Bush got the Christian's vote last election was a pretty blatant example of how the publickend party will do anything for a vote!! I hope your epiphany/revelation is contagious!!!

If you had actually read the Constitution in school, you would have no doubt that this country was founded on Christian morals and values !!

i think you need to get you head out of the sand. Did you ever think that maybe the President is being used by God. He is protecting the Innocent unborn American and Iranian and woman. Remember three years before we elected him he didn't want to run. He ran to serve his country. Thank God Al Gore wasn't elected.
