what is the answer for w in the set:

3w + 5x + 8y + 13z = 17
4w + 7x + 11y + 18z = 23

y=y
z=z
x=1-y-2z

3w + 5x.. + 8y + 13z = 17
4w + 7x + 11y + 18z = 23
..........x... + y.. + 2z =.. 1
.........7x. + 7y + 14z =.. 7
3w + 3y + 3z = 12
4w + y - z = 10
12w + 3y - 3z = 30
15w + 6y = 42
w = (14 - 2y)/5

or you can solve for w in terms of each of the other two variables, but you need one more non-trivial equation to solve the set for numerical values.
