In the last few years, I find myself aligned with Democrats so that a balance can be met between the parties. If the Democrats enjoyed the absolute control of government as the Republicans do now, I would definitely be a swing voter. I don't want any ones special interests to be allowed preferential treatment just because their party was in control. Because many politicians (not all, but then I am an optimist) are pond scum, they really can't be trusted to the keys to the vault. Someone who distrusts and dislikes them must have the ability to watch and pounce on them when they get the goods on them. There should be federal term limits. At this time i am Democrat because of the creep of Evangelicalism into our laws, but if the tide changed radically and disfavored them greatly, I would support them to a degree. There must be balance for everyone to be reasonably happy, but no one should get their way entirely, unless it really is a BI-partisan issue.

Politicians bad, citizens good. That's why I vote. I think the original framers wanted a country that would be difficult to move quickly except to defend itself directly; there are many checks and balances intended to slow Down the process and make it more deliberate. But they did not foresee the 2 party system and how one party could reform it radically if given free rein.

Because we've narrowed the gap and drained the gene pool once again by forgetting about the middle, which is probably in the public, a larger percentage than both the right wing nutjobs, and the left wing pinko commis put together, unfortunately that seems to be all that is in office right now, no middle of the road politicians. Your either conservative or liberal. Oh, and unless you really have a strong will and mind, and can form your own opinions, don't listen to Rush Limbaugh, or FoxNews, because they'll just brainwash you to the right.

Sadly your 2 parties are so close it's only in their election rhetoric that they differ. Elected they both come from the elitist class and therefore cater to them. You need a good "Social Democratic " & i emphasise not communist.
Democracy is nothing more than a beautiful concept that everyone in the world should be entitled to. However, it has one major flaw: It is the only door to capitalism.

Capitalism, and the human greed it fosters, is the terminal cancer that eventually consumes and destroys true democracy. People eventually become enraged at being raped by the rich and privileged, and rise up and revolt, and dictatorial government is the result.

The prime example of this simple fact is the wanton destruction of personal freedoms; the rape, murder, pillaging and occupation of other nations for their natural resources.
The real tragedy of all this is that despots like George W. Bush claim they are doing this to preserve democracy in the U.S. The fact is Americans lost their democracy the day he became president. There is a way to preserve personal freedoms and
democracy; it is called social democracy. Social democracy allows everyone to benefit, not just the wealthy. Social democracy is not communism.

actually well over half of Americans are moderates. They could call themselves a centrist and be more accurate.

The party that can move toward the center most effectively will be the party in power for the next decade or so.

Bush and the conservative wing of the Republican Party have really blown it for the Repubican party.
