First of all you shouldn't be having sex if you have a UTI. It can be passed to your partner. This condition won't go away unless you take an antibiotic to completely rid the bacteria from your system. There are over the counter medications that will stop the infection from growing by increasing urine output to rid some of the bacteria causing the infection, but the OTC meds do not cure it. They may also relieve some of the symptoms (pain) you are having. UTI's may cause Pelvic Inflammatory Disease if left untreated, which can be very painful.

Simply having sex could be making it worse. There's a syndrome commonly called "honeymoon bladder" in which cystitis is caused by sexual activity. You need to be sure to urinate right before and right after sex. And if the symptoms continue, you need to see a doctor. UTIs left untreated can become kidney infections and can be very serious.
One little fact: Sexual activity in the previous week increases risk of UTI 9-fold. The use of spermicides and diaphragms may predispose patients to a UTI, as do some sexual transmitted diseases.
